What is ShopSense?
ShopSense is an affiliate program operated by ShopStyle.com that allows participants to earn money by featuring products and links from ShopStyle in their blogs, websites, and other applications. All product images and links available through OnSugar, the ShopStyle API, or via ShopStyle widgets are "ShopSense-enabled". ShopSense keeps track of the clicks that go directly to retailers or to ShopStyle.com and calculates a revenue share based on the volume and quality of the traffic.
ShopSense is directly integrated into the OnSugar platform. OnSugar users can sign up for a ShopSense account directly through their ShopSense profile page, which is accessible from the profile dropdown menu.
Participation in ShopSense is absolutely free. Eligible participants must sign-up for a ShopSense account to qualify for payment. Please read the ShopSense terms of service for more information.
How does ShopSense work?
ShopSense partners earn revenue when visitors click from ShopSense-enabled images, captions, or links on their site or application, or when visitors click from any other ShopSense content created by the user, such as ShopStyle widgets. To learn more about ShopStyle widgets, click here.
ShopSense pays partners on a per-click basis. You earn a set amount for every valid click that goes from your site or widget to a retailer site or to a retailer site via ShopStyle.com. The rate you are paid per click depends on a number of factors, including how often clicks from your site or widgets result in sales for the retailer, the amount of each sale, and whether those products are returned for a refund. As a result, the rate you are paid can vary over time. You can easily track your revenue by week or month from the dashboard that appears on your ShopSense profile page.
IMPORTANT: ShopSense is tied to your OnSugar/ShopStyle/TeamSugar account. When you generate ShopStyle widgets those widgets are appended with your unique user id. If you use widgets generated by another OnSugar/ShopStyle/TeamSugar account those clicks will not be credited to your ShopSense account, even if those widgets appear on your OnSugar blog.. The same applies if you use the ShopStyle API; you must append your links with your API key in order for your clicks to be credited to your account.
What brands and stores do you carry?
ShopStyle carries thousands brands from hundreds of leading fashion, beauty and kids retailers. How frequently are products updated?
The products on ShopStyle are typically updated every 24 hours based on what is currently available on each retailer's own website. Items are automatically removed from ShopStyle once they go out of stock. Occasionally you may see discrepancies between the price and availability on ShopStyle and the retailer's site. These are rare and are usually due to timing differences.
How do you deal with click fraud?
ShopSense reserves the right to monitor the clicks you generate and determine whether clicks qualify for revenue share. We proactively monitor for fraudulent clicks that do not appear to be coming from the people who are reading your blog or using your website/application. That includes ShopSense participants clicking on their own links and automated programs or robots generating false clicks.
Why do I need to complete a tax form to get paid?
If you establish an affiliate relationship through ShopSense we are required by the IRS to report the annual income you receive through the program via a 1099 form. Therefore, we must first collect your tax information via a W9 form before making the first payment. This is similar to other affiliate programs.
